What is YOGA...

The meaning of the word "Yoga" is "union".  It is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj," meaning "to join" or "union".  Yoga is an ancient practice that cultivates the union of the mind, body and individual consciousness and its purpose is to unite ourselves with our highest nature.
Though many think of yoga only as  physical poses or postures, the  practice of yoga is actually an art and science dedicated to creating union between body, mind and spirit. Its objective is to allow the practitioner to engage the breath and body to foster an awareness of ourselves as individuals connected to the universe as a whole. Yoga allows us to find balance and equanimity so we can live in peace and have a sense of mental, physical, emotional and  spiritual wellness.
